About
Dr. Kaylene J. McClanahan’s work on interpersonal hierarchies investigates the strategies individuals use to obtain and retain positions of power and how these strategies impact group functioning. McClanahan’s work also focuses on how and when race- and gender-based hierarchies are perpetuated or challenged.
In one line of work, she examines why even well-intentioned white people are often ineffective allies for racial minorities. In another line of work, she examines women’s efforts to evade gender discrimination in professional environments.
